The person behind the practice

Sometimes what we need isn't answers — but a space where we can begin to understand ourselves.
Hi, I'm Aashraya Gattamraju. You're welcome here - just as you are, with whatever you're carrying.
My journey into this work is shaped as much by lived experience as it is by training. There was a time when anxiety, emotional overwhelm, and low mood felt constant - like being in a tunnel with no clear way out. I remember what it's like to feel lost in your own thoughts, carrying emotions that are hard to explain, and wondering if things would always feel this way.
In that space, I found myself turning to expression - painting, writing, music - as ways of making sense of what I couldn't yet put into words. These became ways of gently sitting with my emotions, of wading through the darkest waters when nothing else felt accessible.
What also stood out to me during that time was the lack of awareness and accessible understanding around mental health. Not knowing what I was experiencing, or how to make sense of it, often made me feel even more isolated - like I was alone in something I didn't fully understand.
Over time, with the right kind of support, things began to shift. I learned how to understand myself more deeply, and in many ways, how to swim again. I began to notice that even in the darkest moments, there were traces of light - not just at the end of the tunnel, but within it.
These experiences shaped both my story and my vision.
I approach therapy as a deeply human, relational process - one that allows space for both understanding and expression. Alongside psychotherapy, I also gently integrate creative approaches when it feels helpful, offering different ways to explore what may be difficult to articulate.
At the same time, I hold a strong commitment to psychoeducation and awareness-building. Because of what I experienced, I believe that having the language, knowledge, and understanding around mental health can be incredibly empowering. It can reduce isolation, bring clarity, and help people feel less alone in what they're going through.
Through my work, I strive to make this understanding more accessible - to offer not just support, but also insight, awareness, and a deeper sense of connection to oneself.
For me, psychotherapy is not just a profession - it is a calling. My intention is to offer a space that feels safe, steady, and non-judgmental, where you can move at your own pace, feel genuinely met, and begin to understand yourself with greater clarity and compassion.
I believe that meaningful change doesn't come from forcing yourself to be different, but from feeling seen, understood, and supported enough to reconnect with who you already are.
You don't have to go through this alone. It'll be a pleasure to walk alongside you.
